cups druckt nicht

Nun gut, den Fehler hab ich isoliert: foomatic versuchte, mit
Hilfe von gs das Postscript Dokument in etwas druckbares zu
verwandeln. Leider vergißt foomatic aber, beim Aufruf
-sDEVICE=ljet4 mitzugeben, und das Standarddevice ist etwas, daß
einen X-Server braucht. Da darf cups natürlich nicht ran und
stirbt dann weg. 
Ich hab als Workaround jetzt händisch das ppd-File gepatched,
aber toll finde ich das nicht, weil das eigentlich generiert
wird. Hat jemand eine bessere Idee?
