Does it work if you try to telnet pop.gmx.net on 110?

maik at work:~> telnet pop.gmx.net 110
Trying 213.165.64.22...
Connected to pop.gmx.net.

If it works, your problems are based on the evo setup (dunno
anything about evo). If this fails, too, pop.gmx.net should give you
a corresponding hint. HTH

Please avoid TOFU (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/TOFU).
