Aber durchaus machbar, wenn du den Offset kennst. Die erste
Partition eines Diskimages kannst du z.B. so mounten:

mount -o loop=/dev/loop/0,offset=32256 /mnt

Den Rest macht dann cp. Zugegeben, für Backups nutze ich sowas
nicht... was jbglaw vorgeschlagen hat klingt auf jeden Fall
besser.
