xsane + cups problem

Hi,
folgendes Problem auf meiner Debian sid:
- cups ist installiert und druckt einwandfrei via lp oder lpr
  von der Kommandozeile
- xsane ist installiert und scannt einwandfrei

Was aber nicht tut, ist die copy Funktion in xsane, was
verwunderlich ist, da die eigentlich auch nur lp oder lpr
benutzt. Die Meldung ist
lp: unable to print file: server-error-service-unavailable
was laut rfc 2639 soviel heißt wie "service temporary
overloaded". Was aber eigentlich nicht sein kann, weil der ganze
Rechner vor sich hin idled.
Die gleiche Meldung bekomme ich auch, wenn ich das gescannte Bild
von gimp aus drucken will.

Any ideas?
