PostgreSQL und PhpPgAdmin und Debian

Hi!

Ich bin gerade dabei, mich ein wenig mit PostgreSQL zu beschäftigen,
bin aber absoluter Neuling auf dem Gebiet.

Ich möchte mit phpPgAdmin auf meine Datenbanken zugreifen, aber
beim Anmeldeversuch erscheint:

Fatal error: Call to unsupported or undefined function pg_connect() in
lib.inc.php3 on line 196

Die FAQ sagt dazu:
A: PHP is not compiled with the pgsql extensions on your server. You must
either recompile PHP or install the binary/RPM which has postgres capabilites.

Welche Pakete muss ich dafür bei Debian Potato installieren, oder muss ich
PHP3 wirklich selbst übersetzen? Oder habe ich eine Konfigurationsache
übersehen?

Bisher laufen:
