images laden mit grub?

Hi,
ich würde gerne mit grub ein Diskimage laden, zunächst das Image
einer alten DOS-Bootdisk und dann später mal ausprobieren, wie
sich das mit Plattenimages verhält. Geht sowas überhaupt?
Bisher hab ich folgendes probiert:

device (fd0) /dosdisk.img
rootnoverify (fd0)
chainloader +1

was mir aber einen Error 25: Disk read error einbringt in stage 2.
